About the Event

The Boy who cried Ghost is author Ian Eagleton's latest book for 8 - 12s and we are so excited to welcome him to Southend for a fun afternoon of chat and activities to explore this book and his writing in general. It is going to be a fabulous afternoon!

You may already know Ian from his previous books: Glitter Boy, Nen and the Lonely Fisherman, Millies Big Decision, The Woodcutter and the Snow Prince, and Rory's Room of Rectangles. The Boy who cried Ghost is set to be just as much a firm favourite with all who read it.

The event is suggested for children aged 8 - 11 and their familes and everyone must have a ticket. There are two types of ticket. Entrance only, which is free, or entrance including a book which is priced at £7.99. There will also be additonal books to purchase at the event, including copies of Ian's other books. All books purchased will be signed and dedicated by the author at the event.

About the Book:

There’s a ghost in Richard’s wardrobe. Every day he carries out a series of rituals that he believes will keep the ghost trapped inside. He checks the door again and again. He tries to tell his friends and family, but they dismiss his worries and concerns as being part of his OCD. But then one day, the wardrobe door is opened… And that’s when the hauntings begin. Will Richard be able to ask his friends for help…and how can he make them believe him? An own-voices novel about mental health, family, friendship, confronting fear and accepting change.

“Defiantly fabulous” – Guardian “An honest, timely novel” – Irish Independent

“A nuanced, heart-warming and character led story of finding joy and love” – Elle McNicoll

“Fizzing with heart, humour, kindness and joy” – Piers Torday
